Video: Flowmaster Is The Muffler Of Choice For Today’s Drag Racers

In the past couple of years, our love for racing has been blindsided by complaints about excessive noise, and as a result we have seen tracks across the nation being closed down because of it. Some are temporary, and some are permanent, and it leaves those who love the sport of drag racing in a bit of a tough situation. Locally, we saw the Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, CA, close down for a couple seasons due to the noise.

Flowmaster Mufflers has been working with drag racers of all levels for more than thirty years, and being as involved as they are with racing they know all too well the impact that these closures are having on many racers. Some will undoubtedly move to other tracks, while others are simply weekend warriors who only race at their local tracks.

In an effort to help combat the noise issues and the problems these tracks are facing with the open headers, Flowmaster has been providing drag racers with a variety of mufflers that can help cut some of the noise – without costing horsepower or adding excessive weight to their cars. One such muffler is Flowmaster’s Outlaw Series muffler, a great alternative to open headers that has a straight-through, ribbed design that will help baffle some of the noise without decreasing performance.

Flowmaster's Outlaw Series Mufflers can cut take the edge off of the open header sound, without sacrificing power.

Flowmaster, like always, can be found at major events throughout the racing world. They are there for you, the racer, and to help you with your performance muffler needs.

This past August, they were out in the hot sun all weekend at NMCA West in Pomona, CA, and talked with a few of their loyal customers. From the Outlaw series muffler that people like Greg Fisher uses on his 1971 Plymouth Duster to the chambered technology of the Delta Flow design on Greg Peterson’s blown 1964 Nova, Flowmaster has something that all racers want.

Racers have been using Flowmaster for decades, not because of the name – but because of the quality and performance they’ve come to expect from their Flowmaster Mufflers, as they’ve shared in the video above. While it’s great to hear a set of open headers pumping air from a blown big block, racers have found a way to knock some of the interior noise and fumes, and they use Flowmaster mufflers.
