Video: LSX Willys Antics Get More Reckless – 160-Plus on the Street

We’ve got an ethical issue with what you’re looking at here. On the one hand, we love this LSX-powered Willys Jeep. It’s the good kind of insane, with a ProCharger blower and nitrous, propelling a light, short chassis. This makes it very entertaining to watch.

On the other hand, though, it’s also inherently unsafe – far more so than almost anything else we’ve ever posted here on LSXMag. Compounding the problem is that the “anonymous” owner of the Jeep seems to revel in doing things with it that will probably get him and whoever’s riding with him killed.

Running the wee beastie on a drag strip is bad enough. There, at least if something goes wrong, the collateral damage will be limited, and there are medical professionals standing by. But even that’s a problem, because anyone with even a cursory knowledge of the NHRA rulebook can see at a glance that the Jeep wouldn’t be “legal” for anything quicker than a parade lap down the strip.

So more often than not, we see the Jeep in videos like this, running against all manner of other cars down the highway at speeds that would earn you free room and board in the local lockup, not just a ticket. Throw in unsuspecting other drivers, possible mechanical failure (that, in a normal car, might be survivable), or even a shredded semi-truck tire tread to the face, and we can’t help but feel that the clock is ticking until we write our final LSX Willys story.

Undoubtedly there will be people who read this and get angry, or say we “just don’t understand,””He knows the risks he’s taking,” and that “he isn’t hurting anyone but himself.” So be it – there will always be people you can’t reach. But we really hope that this guy gets his fill and parks the Willys (or finds a way to enjoy it more safely) before fate catches up with him.
