One of our favorite video bloggers, Scottie D, recently found a 1973 Camaro that was done up in the Baldwin Motion fashion. Normally we don’t feature tribute cars but this one was done so well that we couldn’t help ourselves – even Joel Rosen would be proud of this car build.

Our host found this Baldwin Motion tribute car at the 2014 “Crusin’ the Coast” carshow. As Scottie D points out, “You don’t see many Baldwin Motion cars and even in tribute it’s kinda rare to see.”

What made the Baldwin Motion cars rare was the price tag for the era. Joel Rosen bought the best that GM had to offer then added some of the best power parts of the day. Rosen and his crew of about 20 employees built roughly 500 cars between 1967 and 1974.

The Baldwin Motion cars were built to race and Rosen only dealt in high-performance, so these cars were raced extensively. Rosen drove them first, then Bill Mitchell and Dennis Ferrara campaigned Baldwin Motion cars.

This tribute car captures the look and design of the originals, from the split bumpers to the triangle shaped stripe on the side. The rear of the car is complete with a Baldwin dealer tag on the driver’s side. According to the sales brochure, the car was equipped with all of the period correct Motion Speed equipment. Most of the Baldwin Camaros in that period came with 454cid engine, a Muncie M-21 transmission and 4.10 gears, and a fiberglass hood that everything fit under. Unfortunately, this car was sent through the auction, but we couldn’t find a sell price.
