Forget the glitz and glamor of a show truck–this 1958 Apache pickup doesn’t need anyone’s approval. While we don’t know all the specifics, we can see and hear enough to know that this hot rod sleeper deserves our attention.

Crafted from a 1958 Chevy Cameo Carrier, the specimen seen here is a 30 light-duty Apache. The ’58 model not only represented the last of the Cameo line, but also an incredibly rare one, as only 1405 were built that year. While the one seen in the video may not be packing factory-correct equipment, it more than makes up for authenticity with sheer horsepower–close to 500 hp, in fact.

Speaking over some of the video, the hoodie-sporting owner shares some details about the paintless Apache’s internals: “It’s got a 2004 LS1 out of a GTO. It’s got a 4L60 transmission in it, with some Moser axles in it, 3.55 gears.”

As our hero saddles up with his lady by his side, he shows off the air bag suspension’s ground hugging mechanism. The description tells us that the “only thing original is the body,” and it shows.

He continues to list off components under his amp’d up Apache, “Bullet Racing camshaft, Magnuson supercharger MP1900 TVS. The rear end is a Ford 9-inch from Quick Performance.” After a quick shot of the sleek Magnuson and the 9-inch we catch a first-hand demonstration of the power the Apache packs as it blazes down a lonely country road right past a nonplussed Johnny Law. Needless to say, this old truck can really haul ass.

Love it or hate it, this gleaming two-seater is a force to be reckoned with on any patch of asphalt. We only wish we could find out more about it–guess we’ll just have to pay attention to the uploader’s channel and see when that Apache decides to go hunting in public again.
