Sometimes, luck is on your side and you happen to be at the right place at the right time. Kendall Wann was the recipient of such a fortunate circumstance when he found this ’74 Z/28. When this factory hot rod made its presence known to Kendall, he wasn’t actually looking for a car, but couldn’t pass-up the deal.

“This Z/28 originally came from Canada,” Kendall stated. “A buddy of mine bought the car and eventually moved to Maryland. After a short time, he then sold it to a classic-car dealer. I bought it from him in 2003 and started the project. Most of the car still has the original Bright Yellow paint. I added the cowl-induction hood and had it painted it to match.” It took Kendall a lot of elbow grease to get the car looking this good, however. “The car was really dirty and looked bad when I got it,” he stated.

Other than the B&M shifter, column-mounted tachometer, aftermarket stereo, and the reskinned front seats using NOS material, the interior is as the factory shipped it.

Finding a car that still carries its original paint is getting to be a rarity these days, but if we told you the Z/28’s originality goes even deeper? Take a look inside, and you’re greeted with factory Chevrolet goodness. “The interior is all original, except the front seat skins,” affirmed Kendall. “The front seats did need to be reskinned, and fortunately, a buddy of mine found an NOS set for me.”

Kendall didn’t get to in-depth about his engine internals, but he did tell us the 350 block was bored .060-inch, and Crane parts make up the valvetrain. Atop the block, you’ll find a Dart Sportsman intake and a Holley carburetor. Finishing the motivational duties is a Turbo 350 and a 10-bolt with 4.10 gears.

Kendall told us the original bumpers were replaced with carbon-fiber pieces.

Kendall says he has no plans of taking the Z/28 to the racetrack, as those days are behind him. He does, however, want to thank his wife for putting up with his hobby and supporting him along the way.
