Last weekend was the 2018 NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, and the-best-of-the-best in the world of hot rods was trundled out for all to see. Not only did rods and customs fill the Kentucky Exposition Center, but manufacturers serving all niches of our industry brought out their latest gear and put in on display.
Classic Instruments was front and center, being presenting sponsor for the Pro’s Pick awards. While they were busy tallying the votes for those awards, their latest-and-greatest product was entered in the special “Best New Street Rod Products of the Year” display for all to see (and judge). When the dust settled, it was their direct-fit instrument cluster for ’64 to ’66 Chevy trucks that took home “Best New Product” in the $201 to $1,000 category.
Customers can choose black for a near-stock appearance or select one of the other color options to match your project! The all-electric cluster with easy snap-in wiring harness arrives ready to install directly into the stock dash of ’64-’66 trucks; no cutting or alterations necessary.
Perhaps the best install feature: the cluster includes Classic Instruments’ Zeus Speedometer Technology built right in, which means no external control boxes. It is designed to re-use the factory dash bezel, (bezel not included,) to maintain the original styling of the vehicle, but has been upgraded with bright LED lighting for even illumination and vivid nighttime readability.
Everything else needed to install the package is provided in the kit including a scratch-resistant acrylic lens and all necessary sending units. No need to worry about fuel-sending unit compatibility either, the cluster features a fuel-sending unit selector switch that is compatible with the existing/factory fuel-sending unit, so no new sending unit is necessary. That is one less thing to worry about trying to calibrate.
Classic Instruments is currently accepting pre-orders for this new cluster and shipping will begin in September, 2018. Based on the red-hot C10 market, you can see why the NSRA chose this cluster as a Best New Product. It’s a winner in more ways than one. Congrats guys, well done!
