Hertz Celebrates 100 Years Unleashing 650 Horses

Available today, mere mortals can live the life of those feasting on highway miles through the tire smoke of the 2019 Corvette Z06. Hertz has secured one hundred special Z06 Corvettes to commemorate the company’s centennial. They will be available through the Hertz Adrenaline Sports Car Rental line for a limited time.

Each special-edition car is clad with a yellow-and-black scheme that flows over the exterior body and into the interior with a blend of black and yellow stitching. Of course, yellow calipers keep the theme. Each car is serialized with special personalized Hertz centennial anniversary plaque.

All Centennial Hertz Z06s will be yellow and black and feature interior cues denoting the car’s special-edition status and a serial-numbered plate.

Another thing that all cars will have in common is that they will all have 8-speed paddle shift automatic transmissions. There will be no grabbing gears while on Hertz’ clock! There are other limitations as well. With only 100 cars, units are selected for high-profile areas such as Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco, and Tampa.

One inconsistency seems to be the omission of the Z-car’s front splitter on some vehicles. When asked about this anomaly, a Hertz spokesperson credited the height of the traffic spike strips at some locations as the reason for not installing the front splitters. They did specify that when the cars come up for sale in about 6-8 months through the Hertz Car Sales channels, all will have their splitters in place, as GM intended.

The sign of a 650-horsepower rental!

Prices vary by location, but you can plan on dropping a few Franklins per day to rent one of these babies, but you better pick one up at the airport closest to your class reunion, as there’s a 75-mile per day cap on the mileage. And, you may even want to add the additional cabbage for the full insurance waiver, it could be money well spent!
