SEMA 2019: RHS Offers A Powerful Package For Cathedral Ports

When the LS engine first came on the scene in the 1997 Corvette, the world never knew how far the little pushrod-driven engine would go in regards to horsepower output. Even now, the powerhouses that we currently enjoy, owes its foundations to the little engine with the cathedral-shaped intake ports.

A blended package that features the intake, throttle body, and camshaft for a specific application is the heart of the kit. Additional valve springs are included as a kit if cam selection warrants the upgrade.

Racing Head Service has not forgotten about the power potential of the earlier LS versions and has just released several intake and cam packages to take the horsepower of cathedral-port engines into levels that its engineers never imagined. Thanks to the company’s close relationship with the entire COMP Cams family, RHS is able to offer complete packages that include the intake, throttle body, camshaft, and the necessary valve springs, if needed. This allows them to custom-tune the entire package for the best results, while limiting any shortcomings inherent to the large-plenum design.

RHS has both Stage-1 and Stage-2 packages available for both naturally-aspirated and supercharged applications. Each kit is carefully matched and dyno-tested to take the guesswork out of matching components. They are engineered to maximize horsepower and RPM without sacrificing low-end torque.

The RHS packages include an RHS sheetmetal intake manifold with billet fuel rails, FAST 102mm Big Mouth throttle body, and a COMP Cams camshaft and matching valve springs in select packages when necessary. In testing, the Stage 2, naturally aspirated package resulted in a 105 horsepower increase on an otherwise-stock LM7 5.3-liter engine. The Stage 2 forced induction package brought in an additional 175 horsepower on the same engine — with 15 pounds of boost.
