Take The Hassle Out Of Building Your Steering System

Building the perfect steering system is never easy. There are always obstacles to overcome. Working around frame rails, small engine compartments, and headers causes nothing but frustration. But, fear not, the crew at Flaming River is here to help.

They have created a steering box to help eliminate a lot of these hassles. Their gear-driven box has 3/4-36 splined output shafts that sit 90-degrees to each other. This provides maximum clearance in spaces where more traditional U-joint setups don’t work. The output shaft to your steering box or your rack and pinion rides in an articulating ball. You can not set the shaft at any angle up to 35 degrees to make sure you can clear whatever may be in your way.

When installing the Flaming River VDOG steering box you can either mount it horizontally or vertically. This steering box is also set at a 1:1 ratio so it won’t affect your steering ratio at all. To keep the perfected look under the hood these steering boxes come in a variety of colors. You can get one in aluminum with a natural finish or in any of the Flaming River’s powder coated finishes. You can also purchase a Flaming River machined aluminum pillow block mount. This is highly recommended for use with a new VDOG steering box.
