GM Expedites Delivery Of World-War II Veteran’s 2022 Corvette

Many folks sacrificed at some level during the worldwide conflict known as the second world war and many folks today are waiting for their C8 Corvettes. Biding time on a waiting list for a new car could hardly be compared to the struggles which met those who fought in the war. But sadly, the fact remains there are not many folks today who can be included in both scenarios.

General Motors and the National Corvette Museum teamed together to ensure that one such individual could enjoy his new 2022 Corvette. Bobbie Carson is a WWII veteran who ordered his Corvette and was put on a waitlist. Due to the overwhelming demand and shortages and other issues hindering the production of the car, waitlists have become a way of life for new Corvette owners.

Current wait times for a new C8 Corvette can stretch into years for those with their cars on order. There are various reasons why that may be too long of a wait for some. For someone who was old enough to fight for the cause of freedom in the 40s, the combination of the unknown and probabilities influencing the outcome of receiving the car can be quite high.

Bobbie receives his new Corvette at the NCM. “There is a waitlist all over the world for this car and I am so happy to get it. They gave me great honor to get me in a position to get one,” he told WNKY news.

Bobbie found himself situated among so many others, waiting with a Corvette on order, uncertain of when it would eventually work its way down the assembly line in Bowling Green, Kentucky. That was until some phone calls were made between the dealership where Bobbie ordered the car and GM. As a result, the 95-year-old Carson found himself respectfully bumped to the front of the line to receive his Corvette. Once the necessary arrangements were in line, Bobbie and his Corvette were united for the first time at the National Corvette Museum through it’s R8C Delivery program.

The NCM’s R8C program is available through any GM dealer when specified during the ordering process of their Corvette. Customers of the R8C program receive a guided tour of the NCM, followed by an orientation and presentation of various features of their new vehicle by trained NCM delivery staff. They also receive a one-year membership to the NCM, a unique gold decal affixed to the door jamb of their Corvette, and a commemorative wall plaque.

Customers who choose the R8C delivery receive a one-year membership to the Museum, get their Corvette delivery in the NCM’s delivery area, and receive a personalized introduction to their new ‘Vette by the NCM’s trained delivery personnel.

Bobbie’s C8 is only the 42nd Corvette to roll off of the line for 2022 production. His Arctic White Vette is now headed back to its new home in Georgia. The veteran has owned seven Corvettes since coming home from the war and this car “dwarfs every one of them!” he says. “There is a waitlist all over the world for this car and I am so happy to get it. They gave me great honor to get me in a position to get one.” Bobbie plans on using the car as his daily driver.

This story originally aired on WNKY TV’s News 40 programming and was shared on its website, where we picked up the story. We join with a grateful country in congratulating Bobbie with his new Corvette and thank him for his service so many years ago. We hope he enjoys his Corvette immensely and the two create many miles of smiles together.
