Event Alert: Western Street Rod Nationals At Bakersfield

West Coast hot rod fans were crushed earlier this year when the National Street Rod Association (NSRA) was forced to postpone the Western Street Rod Nationals. The association chose to reschedule the traditional season opener at the Kern Country Fairgrounds in Bakersfield. At the time, California’s state mandates on Covid 19 placed the Western Street Rod Nationals in jeopardy of being canceled.  Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, the NSRA team decided to reschedule the event. This decision was made with the hope of relaxed state crowd mandates by the rescheduled date.

As things have turned out, the crowd-gathering mandates have been rolled back. Now the event is set to be held October 29 – October 31, 2021. All activities are to be conducted at the Kern County Fairgrounds. The rescheduled date sets up an Ironman cross-country trek for the season closer for the Southeast Street Rod Nationals on December 3rd, 4th & 5th, 2021 at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida. You can look at the Bakersfield event as the calm before the storm.

Just as in past years, participants and visitors to the Kern County Fairgrounds will be part of the largest automotive participation event in this area. This year marks the 34th time the NSRA has chosen Bakersfield as their host city for this event. Californians are well-known for their intense love of the automobile and the distinctive styling of the local car builders. However, you can expect cars from as far away as the northern and southern borders, as well as vehicles from the Atlantic shore.

Vehicles will be driven from all parts of the United States to make this a truly unique gathering of vintage automobiles featuring nearly every make, model and style. In addition to street rods, this event includes all vehicles from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s and, ’80s, adding to the automotive excitement created by past events.
