1000tri-5ScottieDTV has bought us another amazing hot rod. This time Scottie has found this monster 1000 HP ’55 Chevy Bel Air. Usually, when you see a boosted Tri-Five Chevy, it’s supercharged with a massive blower sticking through the hood. Sean, the owner of this ’55 he decided to be different from the blower crowd by throwing on a pair of turbos.

Generating the monstrous power is a 540 cube Merlin big block that runs on E85. It’s been given several speed parts including aluminum Dart Heads and a set of deadly 80mm turbos. These turbos produce 8 to 10 lbs boost giving the Chevy 1,122 RWHP. Sean built this car with drag racing in mind, as it is something he has been into for a long time.

This ’55 was not shop built, Sean built the car himself with the help of several friends. While Sean’s Chevy is a drag car, he wanted to be able to drive it on the street. “I didn’t like the idea of havin’ a race car and not bein’ able to drive it.” This meant the car had to have a nice interior. The interior contains racing seats and a roll cage, but it’s also made out of polished Aluminum for styling purposes.

Believe it or not, the body of the car is all steel minus the fenders, the roof and the doors. Sean regularly races the car in both the 1/8th and 1/4th mile. His best ET in the quarter was 8.60 @ 160 MPH. Not bad for a car shaped like a brick.
