Concept One: Keeping Busy With Blown LS Applications

c1Brothers Kevin and Randy Redd grew up in an automotive environment, and after watching their parents getting knee-deep into restorations and auto repair, it was inevitable that they would follow suit. In 1996 they founded Redd Machining and Manufacturing, and in 2001 they developed the first Concept One pulley system.

c1ls02One of the reasons that they began designing these front drive systems is because it was getting to be a chore to make the pulleys and drive system look good on a built motor, and matching up pulleys was a bit of work. There’s powdercoating, chroming or painting, but let’s face it: CNC milled billet pulleys make stock pulleys look second rate – and just about anyone can rattle-can a stock pulley.

The Concept One drive systems take style and performance to the next level with pulleys designed to look great and perform even better. Whether you’re looking for a standard drive or serpentine drive, they have kits for many popular Ford and Chevrolet engines that will dress up the front drive system to match all the time and money you’ve spent on the rest of the engine.

With supercharger applications for the LS, the hot rodding world was back to sqaure one with front drive systems. So the Redd brothers kicked into action and designed front drive systems for LS applications with the Magnuson supercharger, and this new system has been keeping them busy.

These modern superchargers don’t have the same look that classic 6-71 blowers have – with the super-wide Gilmer drive belt. Modern blown engines have a compact supercharger with smaller, ribbed pulleys that look more like an alternator pulley than a blower pulley.

That smaller pulley makes it a perfect candidate to be included in a Concept One pulley system, and dressing up a supercharged LS with a billet front drive changes it from boring to bad to the bone, and truly cleans up the front drive system tremendously. Check out the pictures above, and you can see the difference between a standard drive system on the supercharges LS, and the Concept One front drive system.
