Our pals over at Bangshift spotted this unique ’68 Fairlane for sale recently, and the most interesting thing they noted about it was that while several of the interesting features about it were listed prominently in it’s sales pitch, one specific feature of the car was not.
The car has several interesting features including homemade louvered aluminum rocker panel covers, a proud coat of goofy neon green paint, and even a “700 horsepower-capable” C4 automatic transmission.
Other highlights (pun intended) of the car include under-hood, in scoop, and in-trunk lighting. However, the one thing that’s not mentioned about the Fairlane, even in passing, is the Daytona wing on the back. It almost seems as if any discussion of the wing is purposely avoided, almost as if it’s like a giant mole on the face of your buddy’s new girlfriend.
The oddity of this car got us thinking a bit about what the old Mel Gibson flick “Mad Maxx” would have been like had it been shot in the U.S. instead of Australia, and with the budget of a sleazy 1970’s porno. We’re betting that instead of the famous black Ford Falcon Interceptor that it might have looked a lot like this Fairlane!
