American muscle is on the rise again, this time in Northamptonshire, England. Ridelust’s “MrAngry” is ecstatic to be able to report that the Mopar Nationals in the U.K. has opened a whole new door for his friend, Chris, who apparently is part of the rare club of those who are pining for muscle cars from across the pond. It’s not too often that Mopar muscle leaves its mark in England, but for British muscle car enthusiasts like Chris, the Nationals event is a once-a-year opportunity to change things up from the Mini Coopers and “microcars” that are a frequent part of the British road scene.

Chargers like the one seen in this video, along with other Mopar variations, race once a year at Northamptonshire’s Santa Pod Raceway. As “MrAngry” points-out, drag racing is thought of as an American-only phenomenon until you see the amazing race footage from Santa Pod. What the video brings us to an awareness of, as Americans, is that Europeans are just as inclined toward quarter mile-running, alcohol-burning cars as we are. It’s a side of Euro culture that we very seldom get to see in the American media, but it’s one that makes America’s kinship with Europe that much closer.

As usual, it does our hearts good to see American performance being enjoyed and appreciated abroad. With the way the popular media is geared in our country, we’re often ignorant of the fact that for as many motor enthusiasts as there are in Europe who prefer the road-racing culture of Porsche and Aston Martin, there are just as many gearheads, if not more, who are just as fanatical about the muscle car “movement” as the guys who we grew-up with, wrenching on V8s in theirs and our own garages.
