While most of us would like to think that “barn-finds” are rather easy to come across, it is not very common to find one. While this may be because they’re aren’t many out there, it could also mean that they are hidden well enough that we just don’t notice them. Fortunately for one Junkyardlife.com enthusiast, his latest find wasn’t hidden at all. In fact, he found it sitting in someone’s driveway in his neighborhood, rusting away in plane sight.
The car that Gary, the Junkyardlife.com fan, found was a ‘72 GTO. It wasn’t just another basic GTO, however. It turned out to be a “post” car, one of only 134 made in 1972.
In addition to it being a rare post-car, the GTO is painted in a special-order Starlight Black color. The VIN of this car revealed that it was originally built with a 400cui engine. Upon looking in the windows, Gary discovered that it is equipped with an automatic transmission with a console shifter. To top it off, it has bucket seats and the optional formula steering wheel.
Unfortunately for Gary, he was unable to get in contact with the owner. Gary tried leaving notes and ringing the doorbell numerous times to no avail. Although he hasn’t reached the owner yet, he seems determined to save this rare GTO. We wish him luck in his continued pursuit to buy and save this classic muscle car.
