We’re just going to be blunt as usual and say that we really, really like the new Charger. We don’t love it, but we like it. With heritage-inspired (but non-retro) styling we have to say it’s the car Dodge should’ve gave us in 2006. Granted we still hate the fact that it’s got four doors, and the front-end styling is questionable at best, but at least there are hints of classic Charger inside and out.
Add to this increased refinement along with added performance across the range of power plants, and we cannot help but stand behind it. We await the ’12 SRT8 variant with great anticipation, and we’re not alone. The other day we ran across a clip of Peter Valdes-Dapena, Senior Writer and Road Tester for CNNMoney.com giving his thoughts on the newly-redesigned ’11 Charger R/T.
Surprisingly, he applauded Chrysler’s improvements and admitted that it was a much better product than the previous iteration. Overall, he seemed to like it, but basically said that he wouldn’t run out and buy one for himself, but rather that it was more for the family man who wished he wasn’t a family man. Whatever, we just wonder what he will have to say about the aforementioned, upcoming 470hp SRT8.
