Finding a museum-quality restored muscle car is not very common. While there are many nice restoration jobs out there, few match the quality that would be found on display on an automotive museum floor. Every once in awhile, a car that matches this quality is offered for purchase. The St. Louis Car Museum & Sales is offering a fully restored ‘71 Pontiac GTO on eBay through May 20, 2011. This is your chance to own a museum quality muscle car.

The GTO is Cardinal Red with an ivory interior and was fully restored in 2003. The complete frame-off restoration was documented with pictures so the new owner can see the entire process that the car went through.

Produced before government emission restrictions went into affect, the GTO  is powered by a rare YC 455 V8 which produces 325hp and 455 pound-feet of torque.

This GTO was one of only 534 hard tops with this engine produced. A Turbo-Hydromatic 400 automatic transmission, 12-bolt rear axel, Solar Ray glass, power disc brakes, power windows and pushbutton AM radio are just a few of the factory options that this car is equipped with. The GTO has 45,327 original miles on it.

The starting bid amount for this GTO is $34,595 or you can purchase it without bidding for $37,900. As of May 19th, the car had not received any bids.

No matter how long it takes for this GTO to sell, it is sure to be a joy on the road and in shows for the future owner. Anyone who is interested in more information on the car or to purchase the car after the eBay auction is closed can contact the St. Louis Car Museum directly.
