As time has progressed, more and more car manufacturers have relied on outsourced products and labor to produce their vehicles. The Chrysler Corporation is not an exception to this. The American company, known once for its truly American-made cars, has been significantly outsourced since Daimler-Benz absorbed them.
The amount of outsourcing by Chrysler is being cut down, however, after an announcement was reportedly made regarding issues encountered with supply shortages and outsourcing issues. Thanks to AllPar.com for breaking the news.
The problems that the Chrysler Corporation has encountered since their rise in outsourcing have been significant. Alleged delays of the HEMI V8 occurring due to failure of Chinese-made camshafts and Chinese batteries arriving without any charge are some of the problems that have occurred.
The latest set back Chrysler encountered was a shortage in the Pentastar V6 engines due to problems with suppliers.
Due to the laundry list of issues, the Chrysler Corporation has reportedly decided to “insource” a growing number of engine components. This comes as good news for American employees after the New Venture Gear and Huntsville electronic plants were shut down due to outsourcing.
