This week’s edition of “Hump Day Holeshot” is a little off the beaten path (pun intended). Rather than the usual drag racing fare, we were wowed by this great video found over on ThatWillBuffOut of some cool Kiwi rodders taking their machines to the dirt track. Their right-hand drive rods make for a great bit of entertainment.

Filmed on the scene at Harrisville, New Zealand, we had to fight the knee-jerk reaction to scream, “Don’t you know how valuable that is?!” at our computer screens now and again. Similar to the Jalopy Showdown, classic rod events like these are a great reminder of what these hand-built machines were designed to do. Long before over-the-top metal flake paint jobs and super-polished lake pipes were the rage, hot rods were open road racers and dirt track devils.

Frankly, it’s nice to be reminded of our roots every now and again. Even if its from the other side of the planet.
