If you happen to have $26 million sitting around and a serious itch to own a motorsports complex, today is your lucky day. The market for race tracks in Southern California has been surprisingly active lately, and now Chuckwalla Valley Raceway is officially up for grabs. It is located deep in the desert, about two and a half hours from civilization, but that isolation is exactly what makes it valuable. While it draws crowds from Los Angeles and Phoenix, it is currently looking for a buyer who sees the potential in owning a massive plot of asphalt in the middle of nowhere.
The facility itself is a bit of a mixed bag for that price tag. The track surface is modern and smooth, which is great for high-speed lapping, but you only get one configuration. There are no alternate layouts to switch things up, and the paddock amenities are pretty basic. You won’t find a fancy karting circuit here either, just a skidpad with some movable barriers. However, what you do get is something most other tracks can’t offer: your own private airport. The sale includes a fully paved, mile-long runway right next to the course. It is in great shape and even doubles as a drag strip with staging lanes, giving Chuckwalla Valley Raceway a unique edge over the competition.
The real selling point here isn’t the garages or the lap times, but the silence—or rather, the permission to break it. Because the track is surrounded by palm farms, solar arrays and open desert, there are virtually no neighbors to file noise complaints. You don’t have to worry about sound limits or curfew restrictions like you do at tracks closer to the city. That freedom is rare in California. Whether that freedom is worth the massive asking price remains to be seen, but for the right person, Chuckwalla Valley Raceway could be the ultimate sanctuary for speed.
