No, this isn’t a Barrett-Jackson (although the Las Vegas running of that show just wrapped up a couple of days ago), Sotheby’s, or RM auction. Rather this is a BringATrailer.com listing for a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda with a 440 Six Pack under the hood.

It is a two-owner California car, originally sold out of Culver City, California (Los Angeles area), the car still sports it factory Rally Red paint, and only has an astonishing 31,500 miles on the odometer. According to the listing, the first owner accounted for 30,300 of those miles, and the car’s second (and current) owner has only amassed 1,200 additional miles in the past 18 years.

A 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission backs the 390 horsepower mill, and the car has power brakes, 3.55 rear gears, sport hood, dual-exhaust, an AM radio with 8-Track, and a vinyl roof, all factory options. There is also a rear trailer hitch that was dealer-installed when it was first purchased in 1970. The interior is all-original and is amazingly well preserved for a 47-year-old vehicle.

As the current bid for this Plymouth Barracuda sits at a scant $28,000 with four days left, you might be wondering where the $350k number comes from. Included in the auction gallery is an appraisal from Jerry Henderson of Auto Appraisal Professionals putting the value of the car in its present condition (which is rated as “excellent” in the same document) at “$349,500 to $350,000”.

We will be watching this particular auction closely, as a bidding war would be exciting as an observer, but equally-exciting as an outsider looking in would be to see someone get the steal of the decade, since we have no idea what the reserve is set at. Either way, we would really like to see someone drive away with such a well preserved part of Muscle Car history.
