Every once in a while you will see something that people are doing with 3D printing technology, but this has to take the cake.
Mike Littrell of Cideas built an incredibly detailed 40 percent scale model of a 1927 Miller 91 race car. What’s amazing is the amount detail packed into this model. Everything was made individually, from the frame, to the suspension, to the gauges. Even the letters on the tires were made idividually and added a piece at a time.
And while everything was done on 3D printers, there were actually four different types of 3D printers used depending on what the engineers at Cideas were looking for. It is interesting to see how each of these different types of machines work and why Cideas chose each for a particular job.
Plus, it’s just plain fun to watch these parts being made in time-lapse video.
