It’s been well over six decades since this 1960 Chevrolet C10 pickup truck rolled off the line. Family-owned since its original purchase, the C10 was revived for owner Chris Hass, and while the truck’s nickname – Patches – may have once been a commentary on its condition, today it’s a badge of honor. What could have been perceived as a patched-together hauler is now a show-stopping custom that demands attention wherever it rolls.
This 1960 Chevrolet C10’s second chance as a beauty queen came as one of the last projects of Second Chance Customs (SCC), formerly of Las Vegas. In the revamp process, the OG long bed was converted to a short bed using OE bed sides. The rest of the bed, including the tailgate with the ’50s Chevy script, was hand-fabbed by SCC.

The shop went deep on sheet metal and bodywork, crafting bespoke parts that included a custom chop and sectioned front end, a modded front bumper and splitter from OBS Street Scenes, plus a reworked engine bay, core support, fender covers, firewall, and modified hood designed to maintain clean body lines – even when its hood is open.
“This is the kind of mod that separates the bolt-on builds from the actual custom builds,” notes Second Chance Customs regarding the hood-up rework.
SCC also added custom touches like an in-house fabricated E-brake cover, shock tower details, trans tunnel, and hood hinges.
“In my opinion, this is how these trucks should have come,” SCC says of the hinge re-design.
Finished in a custom-mix Federal Standard Gray sprayed by SCC and complemented with powder coating by 6651 Customs, the paint delivers an industrial-meets-elegant vibe — subtle in the shade but commanding under show lights.

Stance With Attitude
The truck’s low, menacing stance comes courtesy of a Level Ride air-management system. Air is supplied by Viair 480C dual compressors and stored in carbon fiber/billet tanks from Square Tank. Suspension is handled by Fox adjustable shocks all around — ShockWaves in the rear and Slam Specialties bags up front. Carbon wheel tubs from Munsey Speed finish the look. The result is a system that lets Patches slam low for shows and rise for smooth street function.
Inside the cab, Patches blends modern convenience with custom craft. Vintage Air keeps the cab cool, and an electric pedal brings contemporary drivability. Electric seats from a donor ’90s Volvo were reworked for comfort and style, while Las Vegas’ Divine One
Customs handled the upholstery. The mix of factory-inspired lines with updated tech creates an interior that feels equal parts nostalgic and modern and gives classic lines with modern comfort as a driver.

Lift the hood and the wow factor hits hard. It’s hard to miss all that carbon fiber and red paint.
Power comes from a bright red 6.0-liter LS, bored and stroked to 416 cubic inches. The LS is topped with a Carbon PTR intake manifold by Performance Design — “the icing on the cake,” as SCC calls it. Power is transferred through a 4L80 automatic transmission, while a Holley Terminator X Max with a 12-inch in-dash display takes care of engine management.
Custom touches are as numerous under the one-off hood as they are elsewhere on the truck. (Photos by Jody Only)
The accessory drive by All American Billet. An in-house fabricated fuel cell is part of the fuel delivery system along with the Rhodes
Race Cars dual billet pump.
From the Ground Up
Beneath, the truck was reengineered with a handcrafted, full-custom chassis that includes cantilever front suspension, a triangulated 4-link rear, and a Currie-fabricated full-floater 9-inch rear with a Strange Engineering aluminum third member — serious upgrades that keep the truck planted without infringing on drivability.

All stainless fuel lines, fully polished stainless plumbing, and custom side-exit exhaust tips finish the package with both function and flash.
Stopping power comes from a Corvette C6 Z06 setup with six-piston calipers up front and four-piston rears, powered by GM Hydro-Boost. The C10 rolls on Pro Wheels — 20x10s up front and massive 20x16s out back, filling the tubs and driving home its aggressive stance.
Wherever Patches rolls — whether it’s tucked low at a cruise-in or lighting up the show floor — it leaves little doubt that this truck has earned its crown as one of the cleanest 1960 Chevrolet C10 pickups on the scene.
