For good reason, Ford’s F-150 has been the best-selling truck for over 40 years. With great looks, modern tech features and durable powertrains, the iconic nameplate has remained relevant and attractive across a wide range of owners.

But regardless of stock performance, enthusiasts are always looking to personalize, be it looks, horsepower or handling and braking. Enter QA1 and its line of suspension parts developed to drop the stance, give you better cornering performance, and improve ride quality. QA1 accomplishes this with kits and components for five generations of Ford trucks, dating back to 1973, along with two-wheel and four-wheel drive options on many models.
“I purchased the truck the night before last Thanksgiving, after locating the exact color and trim package I wanted. Then I made a 10-hour round trip drive to pick it up. I was aiming to recreate the aggressive street truck stance popular in the 1990s, while blending in modern performance and styling.” — Truck Owner Jason Kuhn

Of course, Ford produced its own performance variants, including the 1993-1995 and 1999-2004 SVT F-150 Lightnings, and these days you can get a Raptor or Raptor R, which are designed more for slinging dirt than going around corners.

Still, many 2021-present F-150s owners desire that old Lightning look (and performance), so they go for a boost under the hood and a drop in stance. A perfect example is Jason Kuhn’s 2025 F-150 that’s been treated to a host of modifications.
His Ford truck uses the QA1 Lowering Kit (PN LK12-FF04), along with new spindles for additional drop. He also selected the double-adjustable shocks (QA1’s front Pro Coil Coilovers and Rear Drop Kit), which provide unlimited adjustability to achieve the perfect stance, with significant improvements to ride quality and performance, too.

”Our fully adjustable coil overs let you personalize your truck’s height for both slammed aesthetics and comfortable daily driving. Heavy-duty construction ensures these parts can handle anything you throw at them, and with a hassle-free bolt-in installation and a lifetime warranty on shocks and springs, you can get the look you want with total USA-made peace of mind,” said David Kass, the Director of Marketing for QA1. ”A huge benefit to the kit is the easy and precise adjustments for your truck’s stance. Our fully threaded front coilover shock bodies provide adjustment without the use of clumsy shims or spacers, while our rear drop kits offer two inches of adjustment to dial in the final rake of the truck,” he added.

If you’re looking for a 3/5-inch drop for a leveled look, QA1’s lowering kit is the ideal solution to achieve the perfect stance. The front coilovers offer a drop range of one-to-three inches with stock spindles.
”For a more aggressive raked look, QA1’s lowering spindles offer an additional two inches of drop (sold separately). Lower the rear with a drop range of 3.5-5.5-inches with ½-inch increment adjustments on 2WD trucks. On 4×4 trucks, you will see an additional 1.5-inches of lowering in the rear,” Kass stated.
This was perfect, since Jason had a very specific goal: “I purchased the truck the night before last Thanksgiving, after locating the exact color and trim package I wanted. Then I made a 10-hour round trip drive to pick it up. I was aiming to recreate the aggressive street truck stance popular in the 1990s, while blending in modern performance and styling.”

Jason also gave the Ford more go with a ProCharger High Output intercooled supercharger system, and a SPD Performance Alpha catted Y-pipe with SPD Performance HX cat-back exhaust with resonator.
As you know, boost wakes up the 5.0 Coyote, adding roughly 200 horsepower (or more), and the 10R80 transmission and 3.31 rear-end gears keep you accelerating to redline in every gear.
”It’s a clean, simple build that makes a strong visual statement on the road,” said Jason. “We took great care to match the factory paint with to the pearls and metallics, and the result came out well.”

He added, “It is extremely fun to drive and it’s often the first vehicle chosen, even when other options are available. The truck serves as a tribute to a similar F-150 I built in 2006 when my daughter was born.”
Nearly 20 years, and many other builds later, that earlier truck remained meaningful, inspiring this project as both a nod to the past and a celebration of where he is today.
