For a long time, if you wanted big Ford power, you went Coyote. But as time passes, the 7.3-liter Godzilla has changed the conversation, thanks to its simpler, pushrod design that loves boost. Ferrea Racing Components is all in on the platform, and at PRI 2025, it rolled out its expanded Competition Plus series valves and springs to help builders keep these engines together at high rpm.

The stock Godzilla heads move a lot of air right out of the box, which is great, but the factory valvetrain wasn’t designed for 1,000-plus horsepower. That is where the Competition Plus series comes in. Ferrea Racing Components is now offering high-grade stainless steel valves that are tough enough to handle the cylinder pressures of a race application.
Its didn’t cut corners here; you get hard-chrome stems and micro-polished faces to reduce friction, plus titanium retainers to keep the valve weight down. The kit also uses specific beehive valve springs, which are crucial for controlling the valves without adding unnecessary mass or friction. It even offers 45- and 50-degree seat options, so you can dial in the flow based on what your machine shop is doing with the ports.

The team at Ferrea told us this line was built because customers kept asking for it. From kit cars to drag trucks, people are realizing that Godzilla is a cost-effective way to make power, but it needs better hard parts. It’s a lot cheaper to build a high-horsepower pushrod engine than it is to build a complex DOHC V8, and Ferrea is leaning into that advantage. It wanted to provide a robust solution that delivers strong performance while keeping the costs reasonable compared to more exotic options.
It’s working, too. We heard about a reliable 600-horsepower naturally aspirated build already running these parts with great success. Ferrea is also adding guides and seals soon to complete the system. Whether you are building a naturally aspirated street terror or a dedicated turbo race car, the Competition Plus series gives you the valvetrain stability to lean on the engine without worrying about failure.
