Aftermarket chassis and subframes have been around for muscle cars and hot rods for decades now, including those for the General Motors A-body. Well, Ridetech unveiled its new Momentum Chevelle/GM A-body chassis at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and we’re happy to report that it’s chock-full of improvements and employs the latest technologies for such a part.

Let’s be honest, Henry Ford could have called it a day after the Model T and gotten rich, but time and technology march on. Change is not only inevitable, but quite desirable, especially in the case of the Ridetech Momentum chassis …
The Ridetech Momentum Chevelle/A-body chassis is available for all 1964-’67 Chevelles and Malibus, and any ’68-’72 GM A-body, including the Pontiac GTO/Tempest/LeMans, Oldsmobile F85, Cutlass and 4-4-2, Buick Skylark and GS, and (we especially like typing this) the Canadian Beaumont.
The re-engineered suspension pickup points on the Momentum chassis improve camber gain, caster, roll center, and Ackerman, according to Ridetech. Like current Ridetech A-body systems, this chassis lowers vehicle height roughly two-inches from stock. The front suspension is designed to accept rack-and-pinion steering.
Engine, Transmission And Wheel/Tire Fitment
It is set up to accommodate small- and big-block Chevy engines, and LS and Gen-V LT engines. The adjustable crossmemeber accepts popular manual and automatic transmissions, including the TREMEC T56 and TKX, the Turbo 350 and 700R4, 4L80E, and more.

Tire clearance is also upgraded. Up front, you can now fit up to 275/40R18 tires on 18×9-inch wheels (six-inches of backspacing) or 18x10s with 6.5-inches of backspacing. The rear will take 295/40R18 on 18×11-inch wheels (6.5-inch backspace), or up to a 335mm rear tire with minitubs.
Naturally, coming from Ridetech, it can use either its Fox Factory coilovers or Shockwave air suspension. A fabricated Ford 9-inch rear axle housing in standard and narrow widths is available.
Numerous braking options are available, including spindles that will accept C5, C6 and C7 brakes with factory or aftermarket calipers. Other options include sway bars, coilover sets, engine mounts, etc.

Pricing starts at $19,500 for a base chassis with pin spindle/stock-width axle configuration or narrowed-width axle. A hub-spindle setup for the above will set you back an extra $150. Each chassis comes standard with tubular upper and lower control arms, your choice of hub or pin spindles, a front sway bar, a four-link rear suspension, 9-inch housing and all the necessary installation hardware.
