We found this insane ’66 Buick Riviera on the AMcarguide site. If you like the old Buicks, especially the Riviera, then check out this wild creation. From what we gather these pictures were taken out in the desert, and it’s the perfect atmosphere for car with this type of attitude.
What makes this car so eye-catching is that the lines and body modifications transformed this Buick into the sinister looking hot rod you see here, and it’s definitely not the same luxury car GM intended it to be. This one has been nosed, decked, slammed, and put on air ride. Even the chopped top has an evil slanted look to it, giving it a gangster like appearance.
The Buick Riviera was GM’s answer to the consumer that wanted a sport luxury model, equivalent to the Cadillac Eldorado, and Oldsmobile Toronado. The standard engine was the 401 nail head rated at 325hp with a single four barrel.
Add the GS option, and it gave you the 425-inch version of the nail head, topped off with two Carter four barrel carburetors, raising the power level to 360hp. The engine was backed up by the super turbine 400, which was Buick’s version of Chevys Turbo 400 transmission.
This being the more desirable Grand Sport edition, makes for an even cooler ride. This is one bad ass Buick with attitude! The subtle changes in body aesthetics, and suede black paint suit this car perfectly. We can only imagine the crowd this car draws when it pulls into the parking lot of the cruise night. And check out those wide whites.
