We love custom cars and custom builds. When someone takes a car or an idea and it becomes reality, we’re usually in awe of the craftsmanship and talent that the builder has shared with us. Sometimes, however, we’re left with our jaws dropping for different reasons. We’ve seen some strange builds from time to time, but this one that we found on eBay leaves us wondering if this “hot rod” is a true representation of the initial concept.

On the one hand, you have an idea that was brought to fruition. It has a 496 cubic inch GM crate motor (with 502 on the valve covers), a Ford 9-inch rearend, and dual quads. That’s a great start, and it has a flip front end and gullwing doors, pretty cool. But on the other hand, the vehicle is made of wood and looks like the bastard step child of a Gremlin and a Saab Sonnet.
If you only look at the craftsmanship, it appears that the builder is pretty talented with wood and has done an amazing job at building his dream car. But then you realize that this China hutch on wheels just doesn’t make the grade of “hot rod”. It’s more believable as a Lego hot rod than a full size musclecar, because it’s just one of those custom car builds that reminds us of that famous line from Risky Business – “Sometimes, you just gotta say what the f___, make your move”. Or sometimes not, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they always say.
So if this hot rod business isn’t too risky for you, perhaps you wouldn’t mind plopping down the $119,000 that the seller is asking for. Yeah, we were wondering the same thing – why not just round it off to an even $120,000, right? But there is one watcher… so act fast, operators are standing by.
