1970 Camaro RS project carOur young friend Justin is quite the car flipper. At 15 years old he purchased a 1970 Chevy C10 short bed for $3,600 and turned around and sold it for $5,500. At 16 he took his cash and made the investment of a lifetime; he purchased a 1970 Camaro. He found one hiding on the side of a house where it had been for the last several years. Ever since he was a wee lad, Justin dreamed of restoring a vintage musclecar with his dad. He finally gets the chance to make this dream a reality. 1970 Camaro RS engine bay

The Camaro is an RS with an original 350 with Edelbrock heads mated to the original TH350 automatic transmission. Justin and his dad spent weeks tearing the car down; removing worn parts, sanding out the rough edges and and prepping the car for paint. They pulled the mill and discovered it wasn’t numbers matching, and learned it was thrashed. Justin ordered a new GM 350 crate engine which had just been installed at the time of his posting.

1970 was the start of the 2nd generation Camaro, which was larger and meaner than its predecessor. The generation would span 12 years making it the longest generation of Camaro. During this time it would see two facelifts and would be the last living relic of 1960s muscle during the performance dark ages of the 1970s. Notable generation alumini include David Freiburgers F-Bomb, Bumble of Transformers fame and that sweet ’79 Z28 that Spicoli drunkenly wrecked in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. As for Justin, no doubt his 1970 will be the coolest car in the parking lot at his high school.
