
One of the standouts from last year’s Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals. This year is sure to bring more showstoppers.
2018 marks the 34th Annual Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals in Pueblo, Colorado. The event will take place from June 22nd to June 24th, 2018 at the Colorado State Fairgrounds, and will host some of the most outstanding street rods, customs, muscle cars, and street machines from all over the country. It is also where fans and spectators will be able to see who gets crowned winner of the coveted, “Pros Pick,” award. The Pros-Pick awards are sponsored by Classic Instruments, and are presented to the top-five street rods at each NSRA event. Needless to say, they are sought after in the street rod community.
The National Street Rod Association (NSRA) has specific criteria which defines a,“Street Rod.” A street rod is a modernized vintage vehicle produced before 1949. This means street rods are typically outfitted with modern components, such as disc brakes, tilt steering, cruise control, and air-conditioning. That is not to say that out of the two-thousand vehicles expected to be in attendance at this years Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals, there will only be street rods. You can also expect to see muscle cars, four-by-fours, Jeeps, and even station wagons, as these are the vehicle types common to the area.
So, From those famed street rods, to the their younger muscle car cousins from the ‘60s and ‘70s, there will surely be something for everyone. The Rocky Mountain Nationals is the largest automotive participation event in the area, and fans of hot rodding from all over the surrounding area will be in attendance. If that applies to you, you won’t want to miss out on this enormous event. Not only will you be able to take full advantage of the special attractions, but spectators will also be afforded the opportunity to walk right up to these gleaming beacons of craftsmanship to stare as long as they like. Just be sure to bring a towel for the drool. Or sweat, It is June after all. Then again, at last year’s show, the temperature dipped low enough to warrant a light jacket or sweater, so be prepared for that as well.
The Rocky Mountain Nationals are going on during the same weekend as the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, so there will surely be no shortage of hot rods in the area. With such a high level of excitement, and thousands of gorgeous cars in the area, you will likely run out of time in the day before you run out of sights to see. So, make your plans now, and be sure to not miss a single street rod, muscle car, or custom. You’ll be kicking yourself if you do.
