Due to recent events, enthusiasts and show promoters have been scouring the show calendar, seeking to squeeze in any available window of fun possible. This year’s show season has definitely been compressed. As the leaves begin to change, giving evidence of a seasonal shift, car shows originally scheduled for much earlier in the summer are finally getting their day in the sun.
The National Street Rod Association is busily orchestrating their Nats South event in Knoxville, Tennessee as we type this. They are also pouring all their efforts into making the upcoming 2020 Mid-America Street Rod Nationals another great one. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, (October 16, 17, 18, 2020) are the dates when thousands of hot rods, customs, and street rods will converge on the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield, Missouri for this delayed, but enjoyable event.
While the NSRA utilizes various venues throughout the year, you can rest assured that the fun will be uniform in nature. Of course, there will be a bevy of car-related attractions which are sure to scratch the itch which has been building over the past few months. The cruising action will be central to the event as well as the used parts swap meet, the manufacturer’s midway, and every opportunity to show your ride and to view hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of attendees.
Over 50 manufacturers and specialty-equipment dealers will have displays highlighting their products and services in the indoor areas but you can also find that perfect part for your pride and joy as the shopping continues throughout the outdoor midway area as well.
Some special displays on Saturday will feature the “Streets of Rods” along with several other categories. On Sunday, those vehicles picked for special consideration will cruise into the “Circle of Winners” awards area to receive the award, and recognition they are due.
There will be a variety of activities such as a Women’s World/arts & crafts show, a Quilt Show, Ladies Tea, Nick Donovan’s Rockin’ Road Show, and an all-denomination church service on Sunday, featuring 4Calvary. There will also be NSRA’S own Super Prize Program, where over $54,000.00 worth of merchandise will be given away, and last but certainly not least, there will be three drawings for $2,000.00 each, giving attendees even more opportunity to enjoy the weekend. All you have to do to be eligible to win any of the prizes is to be a registered participant of the 2020 Mid-America Street Rod Nationals.
Mail-in registration has closed, but NSRA members can register the weekend of the event at the host hotel, The DoubleTree Hotel Springfield, on Thursday from Noon to 6 p.m., Friday from 9 to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 to 2 p.m. All activities are open to the public with the purchase of a spectator ticket.
