Every now and then we can all use a feel-good story, and a recent thread over at the ChallengerTalk forum has lead us to a great one, only it’s about an Oldsmobile not a Challenger! It all started where a 27 year old Challenger enthuiast purchased a ’65 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88, and after fixing it up a bit he decided to trace down the car’s history.
He discovered that the original owner was living in St. Louis, MO, just three hours away from his residence in Kansas City.
He approached the community in the forum to get their opinion on whether it would be a good idea to contact the original owner, or whether it would end up becoming some type of psycho-style stalker move.
The older crowd in the forum chimed in and all agreed that they’d love to be contacted by the owner of a former car.
A few phone calls and e-mails later and the new owner, Olds, and previous owner were reunited. To make the story even better, the Olds had been the car to drive Gerry and his wife away from their wedding, and they were happy to re-create the picture!
They also took the Olds out for a spin and recounted memories past. Shawn, the new owner, and Gerry both signed the glove box to commemorate the occasion as the first and last owners of the car.
Who says cars can’t bring people together?
