They always say: Don’t judge a book by its cover. But in the case of this Bentley we found on eBay, that saying works in reverse. We were initially curious as to why a Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible has such a low bid price, until we took a closer look.
Much like the fake Lamborghini’s on a Fiero chassis, this Bentley has something up it’s sleeve, or under it’s skin, rather. If you think the interior is a bit ratty for a car like this, it’s primarily because that’s what one can expect from a 2003 Chrysler Sebring.
Yes, this V6 powered Bentley wannabe is all show and little go, but a trip to the local auto parts store owned by the three bobble-headed car guys will fix that right up. A nice set of neoprene seat covers, an air freshener that looks like a pine tree, and maybe some fancy carpeted floor mats will have all your friends wondering: just who are you trying to fool?
Back in the Fiero days, one could buy a new Fiero with a Mera body kit to make the car look exactly like a Ferrari 308, you know, like that Selleck guy drove on TV. The only thing about it, though, is that it didn’t sound like a Ferrari. And we’re pretty sure this luxury 2.7L V6 doesn’t sound much like the purr of the Bentley.
The real McCoy, and the imposter. Can you pass the jar of mustard?
But just think how cool you would look driving through the neighborhood with your favorite tunes and all your neighbors wondering if you won the lotto. Just be sure to not let them see the interior… because you can’t judge this book by it’s cover.
