You just don’t see too many AMC Ramblers around these days. A few show up sporadically at cruise nights and car shows, or you might find the remnants of one that’s made its last journey to a local wrecking yard, either picked to pieces or weather beaten for sitting so long, completely ignored.
However, we found this 1969 Rambler over at ProTouring.com, and it makes you wonder why you don’t see more of them on the road. The clean lines and pony-car stance made it a great home to a V8, and with some nice wheels you can see that they clean up pretty well.
But this Rambler doesn’t have a V8 sitting between the aprons, and that makes it a bit unique. The Rambler made the 2007 Hot Rod Power Tour with the popular 4.0L inline 6-cylinder Jeep engine, and according to its owner it made the entire trip without any problems at all. That was in 2007.
Currently, it’s sporting a 60mm turbo for more power and is getting a narrowed rear end so he can stuff the widest tire he can fit between the rolled quarter panels and factory leaf springs.
The owner says he’s getting pretty close to finished, and looking under the hood we can see that it’s just as clean inside as it is on the outside. His reason for getting the Rambler was because they needed a family car.
He says his wife wanted a car with a back seat for their son because she didn’t want him sitting on the floor of their other car – an AMX. Don’t you just love it when you have a muscle car like an AMX and the wife recommends getting another car instead of suggesting that you to get rid of one?
