When you think of a Lincoln Town Car, the last thing that runs through your mind is a stunt show and a jump ramp. The Town Car was never intended to be the center of attention at a county fair where there’s lots of dirt and hootin’ and hollerin’. In a list of four things and one that doesn’t belong: a jump ramp; a County Fair; a stuntman and a Town Car; the latter is immediately eliminated.

But amateur stuntman Michael “Madman” Porter of Galion, Ohio, has been thinking about flying his 1989 Lincoln Town Car for a while, and on July 16th this year he did such a thing.  In the YouTube video above, Michael took his Flying Lincoln to the Crawford country Fair in Bucyrus, Ohio, and made a lap around the track. On the second pass, he hit the launch ramp and flew his Lincoln the equivalent of seven parked vans, and nearly overshot the landing ramp.

What’s even more incredible about this jump is that not only did he land it and drive it around the track again, but it was the first attempt – so there weren’t even any practice jumps. The landing looked rather hard, and the car didn’t exactly sound healthy afterward, but these jumps usually end with the car tumbling or breaking the suspension and becoming a King-Kong sized paperweight. Porter landed it like a pro in his only stunt car.

Michael has his own web site, The Amazing Flying Lincoln, and tells his story of how he’s been a bit of a daredevil all his life. Starting with bicycles, then moving on to motorcycles, then he looked forward to getting his driver’s license. From there, the rest is history, as they say.
