Summer is winding down and that means fewer and fewer opportunities to get your car show fix before the weather turns bad. Luckily, there are still events to be seen all over the country for the next couple of months, including the Hot Rod and Classic Car Show on Mt. Prospect Avenue, set to be held this Sunday, September 7th in Newark, New Jersey’s historic Forest Hills neighborhood.

Kicking off at 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning, according to NorthJersey.com, the second annual Hot Rod and Classic Car Show on Mt. Prospect Avenue will play host to over 100 classic vehicles in the historic Forest Hills area of Newark. Among those planning to show off their vehicles includes Lou Magnifico, who will have his 1960s replica Batmobile on display for all to see.
Mt. Prospect Avenue will be shut down to motorized traffic during the show, giving participants and show-goers a relaxed environment to enjoy one of the special spoils of the summer season.
Because the show is limited to Mt. Prospect Ave., early registration for the event is encouraged. Staging of all the vehicles for the event will take place on Sunday morning between 8am and 10am.
In addition to dozens of classic cars on display and an appearance from Magnifico, the event will offer food and ice cream vendors, live music from groups like the Marty Hoff & Kevin Hagen Big Band, and even fun activities for the kids, like face painting and balloon animals.
If you’re interested in showing your vehicle at the second annual Hot Rod and Classic Car Show on Mt. Prospect Avenue, be sure to register for the event here. Registration for the show is $20. Those participants in the show are eligible for over $1,000 in prizes throughout the day.
The show is free for the public with the event running from 11:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. on Mt. Prospect Avenue in Newark, between Delavan Avenue and Heller Parkway. Part of the proceeds from car registrations and vendors will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
