Usually, when we come across a barn find it’s a single car that’s been sitting, unattended, unloved and uncared for. Occasionally, we find more than one car that needs attention and the sting of seeing a classic rotting away is often too much to bear for some people.
Such is the case for this pair of 1968 offerings from the General: a 1968 Camaro SS and a 1968 Pontiac GTO – two classics that most any gearhead would love to have sitting in their own driveway. We found the story on Cars In Barns, and the contributor who spotted the Camaro thought he’d stop in for a closer look at it. Much to his surprise, the owner also showed his other car to the passer-by, the GTO – which appears to either have a well preserved interior or it’s been reupholstered.
The good news about both cars is that they both seem to be under a covered roof, albeit out in the weather, and there are car covers attempting to protect the cars from the elements. Both cars seem like they’re in pretty good shape, considering, and despite flat tires and some oxidation to the paint, it doesn’t seem like it would take much to put these one time cruisers back on the streets again.
For most of us, finding a car that’s in decent shape is fun and rewarding when we get to bring it back to life. Finding a car in good shape is even better, because it usually means that driving it will happen sooner. But – finding a pair of classic musclecars that are both in decent shape and desirable? Well, that’s just priceless, which, unfortunately, is the value of these cars because the owner says he’s not ready to sell – yet.
Both cars would look great parked in a garage of someone who wants to drive them. Do you think you could persuade the owner to sell? If so which car would you want, if not the both of them (it’s okay, we want both of them, too!)? And what would be the first order of business on your list of getting these beauties back into commission?
Check out the interior on the Goat, this bad boy looks ready to run.
