Today’s barn find brings happy news: the car has been rescued! No wishy-washy owner who won’t sell, or demanding too much to give it up for adoption, not this time.
This green 1969 Dart Swinger, which was found and bought out of New Mexico, now belongs to a certain Bob living in the Southwest U.S. He states that he’s had his eye on the car since the early ’90s, and has never given up hope that he might one day own it.
Fortunately, his persistence paid off. The couple bequeathed the car to Bob recently, and he’s excited not only about its prospects, but its history as well.
From what we can tell, the car was apparently the “Just Married” chariot used to whisk away the young newlyweds to their honeymoon. It’s had its ups and downs over the course of 40+ years, but luckily has managed to hold on to some of its original bits and pieces.
Among them, there’s the alternator, water pump, and rebuilt hydraulic brake parts. A few items of documentation, including the window sticker, build sheet, and old registration forms, have also survived the times. As a cute, amusing bonus, Bob also discovered the “Just Married” signs hidden between the trunk extension and quarter panel of the Dart.
He makes no indication of plans he has for the two-door, but its 340 V8 and four-speed manual–with nothing missing, as far as he can tell–could make the restoration worthwhile. What do you guys think?
