Barrett-Jackson Winds Up For 2013 With Low Mileage Trans Am

One of the more iconic musclecars of the 70’s was the Trans Am, and this low mileage, white-with-blue-stripes, 1970 Trans Am is one of those cars that takes you back. Introduced in the 1969 model year, the Trans Am was the coolest thing to hit the streets from GM, and began a following that is still consistent to this day. The following year, the second gen Trans Am was just as awesome as it’s predecessor with a new body style that remains a strong favorite among enthusiasts.

Thsi 1970 Trans Am looks great at any angle!

This Trans Am featured here will be at the famed Barrett-Jackson auction in January, and it’s all original with just one repaint back in that was done back in 2002. The repaint was finished in the correct Polar White with all the correct decals used to preserve the original look.

With just 35,000 miles, this car is barely broken in and still retains a few holdouts from the 1970’s along with it, namely the R12 refrigerant in the factory air conditioning system, and the 8-track tape player that was part of the factory AM/FM stereo system. The complete interior is all original, including the carpeting, and looks just as good as it did in the ’70s.

The Ram Air III 400 ci Pontiac engine is backed by the original Turbo 400 transmission, and the drivetrain is all numbers-matching right down to the original carburetor. The YZ Code engine produces about 366 hp, and puts that power down to the original JW wheels riding on period correct Polyglas GT tires.

For documentation, the original owner’s manual, Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) documentation are included, as well as the original build sheet and sales brochure. So how does a car like this stay in such great shape after all this time? It was stored for 17 years in a climate controlled environment.

There are few examples that match up to the originality and condition of this second gen Trans Am, and going without a reserve who knows what this car can bring in when it rolls across the blocks in January. If you’re thinking of adding an awesome Pontiac to your stable, keep an eye out for Lot # 745 in Scottsdale, AZ, this coming January 13-20.
