Bell Helmets Teams up with Skratch’s Garage

Check out this killer video from Bell Helmets and their new line of Custom 500 series helmets. They recently teamed up with Skratch’s Garage, in Sun Valley California for a photo shoot, and to introduce Skratch’s custom paint line that will be available on the new 500 series helmets. Many of you might be wondering who Skratch is, once you see the video you should recognize him, especially if you watch the Discovery Channel. He has been on numerous episodes of Overhaulin, and several biker build offs, and at his shop “Scratch” offers many old-school services, including custom paint and pinstriping.

How many people can say they have been covered in custom paint? Well, after you watch this video of the lovely “Cherry Dollface” being covered from head to toe in custom paint via “Skratch” and his talents you might think of a couple more creative ways to take your pinstriping career to a different level.

Back in 1954, Bell founder, Roy Richter came up with a fiberglass designed helmet that he labeled the “500.” We have all seen them, you know the ones with the  gaudy metal flake paint and open face design, kind of like the helmets we used to watch Evil Knievel wear during his death-defying jumps.

Well here we are again, and its 2012,  and “what’s old is new again.” With all the bitchin’ old-school hot rods and bikes and the come back of flake and custom paint jobs, Bell Helmets  decided to revamp  the old 500 series  with modern technology  for safety  purposes,  and bring back the legend.  Essentially it has all the looks  of the old-school helmet,  but in terms of safety,  it’s light-years ahead of the old design.  The new helmet is called the Custom 500,  and it’s a perfect match  to fit in with everything from nostalgic drag racing, to motorcycles,  and anything else requiring a helmet  for safety that took place  way back when. You may just want one to put  in your man cave, especially if you can have a one-off design with custom paint as cool as this.
