Brandon Arnold’s Custom ’30 Roadster Is Super Smooth

What started out as a ’30 5-window coupe is a fine example of a custom ’30 roadster.

When Brandon Arnold and his crew built this smooth roadster, they wanted it to be so seamless that people would think the body is made from fiberglass – that’s exactly the look the project took on after they welded the ’29 fenders, running boards, and splash aprons to the body. What’s cool is that the tub and rear fenders are from the original ’30 5-window–also the fact that the grille shell is from a ’32 and the headlights are from Big Dog Motorcycles. The windshield frame is custom-built as well.

The beautiful body of the car sits on a TCI chassis, complete with a polished Jaguar-style independent rear suspension setup.  The power comes from a fuel-injected 355 ci mated to a 700R4 transmission, so it’s got some get-up-and-go. Actually, back in 2013, this roadster was one of the Magnificent 7 finalists at the Starbird-Devlin show in Wichita Kansas.

Arnold states that, “The hardest part of this build was keeping as many of the fasteners as hidden as possible.” We don’t doubt that, as creating seamless work is a true art. It takes ingenuity and a great build plan to accomplish such a work of craftsmanship. One funny thing that Arnold told us about this build is that the owner actually went yarn shopping to come up with the colors for the roadster–pretty creative if you ask us!

We have no doubt that we’ll be seeing some more awesome work from Arnold in the future, thanks for the submission!
