GM was an early innovator when it came to non-metal body panels. Not just with the plastic-bodied Corvette, but with pioneering urethane “soft bumpers.” When federal mandates required all new cars to be able to withstand up to 5-mph bump, GM leveraged its know-how from Pontiac’s GTO “Endura” bumper and expanded their use over to F-bodies and Corvette. Sadly, the early flexible bumper material was embryonic and didn’t hold up very well over the years. We’ve all seen or owned a seventies car that suffers from deteriorating bumpers.

Not to worry, as Auto Metal Direct (AMD) has the cure. Don’t let their name confuse you, they have top-notch front urethane bumper replacements for 1977-78 Pontiac F-bodies. They also have bumpers for 1978-1981 Camaros, and 1979-81 Firebirds too.
Manufactured in durable, high-quality urethane, each bumper cover will fit and install exactly as original with no modifications needed. Beware of higher-priced fiberglass reproductions! Replace your saggy or damaged original bumper cover with this superior quality reproduction and bring your Trans-Am back to showroom appearance!
