Burnouts; some call it hooning, others label it as showing off. But we call what it really is, and that’s frickin’ awesome! YouTube is full of burnout videos from all over the world, and they include all different types of cars from traditional musclecars to imports and exotics. But there’s one car that is respected by enthusiasts and collectors of all cultures alike, and that’s the Buick Grand National.

The owners of these cars are often as unique as the vehicles themselves. They can range from the car show regulars (anal about things like originality, low mileage, and road dust) to the extreme gearhead, constantly racing his/her high-boosted Buick every chance they get. We call them Grand Nationalists.

Recently, one GN owner took his car to the heralded 2012 Cruisin’ Ocean City car cruise, where thousands of spectators and enthusiasts alike pack the streets of the Maryland beach community over the course of a weekend.

Unfortunately, he bit off more than he could chew when a “just for kicks” burnout activity went from epicly awesome, to the owner getting arrested and his car impounded –by a cop on a bicycle. Not cool.

How bad would this suck? We can't criticize too much though, since a lot of us have been there...

The entire scene only lasted about seventeen seconds, with countless onlookers cheering and screaming, but the owner will now have to play hopscotch with the legal system for the next few months. Lesson learned.

We first heard about it through a Buick enthusiast fan page, but to protect the owner neither the site nor the owner’s identity can be shared at this time until the Grand Nationalists’ legal concerns are over. However, since your author has an inside line on the culprit we got a heads up about the car, courtesy of the rebellious owner himself.

The alleged hooner’s ’86 Buick packs an unopened, stock motor with 130k miles and all of the typical GN hardware; chip, 3-inch downpipe, aftermarket exhaust, increased boost pressure, a Kenny Duttweiler intercooler neck, a high-stall torque converter, and other odds and ends. It even sits on Trans Am GTA wheels, to give it the GNX look.

The owner also claims it runs consistent 11.30s at 118mph in the quarter-mile, and gets nearly 25mpg on the highway. We don’t doubt it. So check out the attached video (NSFWL), and remember kids, don’t try this at home.
