General Motors has just deemed the 65th anniversary as the carbon fiber one, or at least that’s the approach to celebrate the Corvette’s 65 years on Earth.
The special Carbon Edition will only be available on the 3LT (or top trim) levels of the Corvette Grand Sport and Z06. Only 650 of these will be made, and each will be dressed in Ceramic Gray paint with special order door and fender “Carbon 65” graphics.
To stay true to the carbon reference, visible carbon fiber ground effects, spoiler, and part of the hood on the special editions have carbon fiber trim bits. Coupes will also get carbon fiber roofs and intake ducts, and convertibles get a carbon tonneau cover to go with its soft top.
The interiors will feature black suede Competition Seats with blue stitching. The steering wheel will be covered in carbon fiber, with glossy carbon-fiber trim bits throughout.
As you probably already expected, the Corvette Carbon Edition will come with a pretty hefty upcharge. The Carbon Edition will add $15,000 to the price tag, putting the Grand Sport at $91,190 and Z06 at $104,390, starting, and this is based on the 2017 prices.
Chevy also added a few more trim-line upgrades for 2018, like larger Z51-style wheels, magnetic ride control for the Stingray and carbon-ceramic brakes for the Grand Sport, and new paint options.
