We’ve lots of cool powerplants in some really oddball cars. While seeing a stout big block Ford in a truck shouldn’t normally lift any eyebrows, we were surprised when we came across this clean ’73 ford F-250 XLT Ranger 4X4 sporting a real-deal 428ci Super Cobra Jet (C6ME-A). Rebuilt and fresh with 10.5-to-1 compression and solid lifters, Offenhauser dual port intake, and a 650 Edelbrock carb, the clock only reads about 70,000 miles.
Originally purchased from an upstate Idaho estate auction around two years ago, the truck remains rust-free, has original interior, and runs great, free of rattles. The odd-duck Ranger was also ordered with the Super Cooling four-row core, XLT tow package, the C6 automatic trans, a 205 transfer case, 4.10 gears, and factory iron 428 headers.
The truck also came with dealer installed air conditioning that continues to blow cold air and has its old factory lap seat belts. A couple of mods include a pair of side mirrors and a stereo from a 90’s truck, and a fifth-wheel ball in the bed and many light plug ins, and a brake controller.
