Have you ever wanted to drive across water? We aren’t talking about just driving through some puddles- we mean full on driving across a lake. While it may be impossible for the every-day car to accomplish, the movie Speed Zone would lead us to believe that with enough power and a flat bottom, a car can successfully be driven across a body of water. Thanks to a new video on AutoBlog.com, we can see this possibility in action- just with something a bit smaller scale.
Unfortunately for most of us, we will never have quite the right equation for driving our cars across water-not that we’d really risk it if we thought it was possible anyway. That is why we must find other ways to live vicariously for the thrill of driving a street vehicle across water- and no, we aren’t going the Amphicar route. A video recently uploaded onto AutoBlog.com captures an R/C truck being pushed to the limit as it is driven across a backyard pond.
While it may not be a real car, the precision and power that the R/C truck drives across the pond is impressive and definitely puts remote control boats to shame. In both takes on the video, the truck makes it all the way across the pond with little issue, scooting along the water’s surface to complete its 365-foot water drive. For a bit of Monday fun, check out the video. And although the Lamborghini in Speed Zone made the feat look easy, we don’t recommend trying this in your street car. But it sure is fun to think about being able to take hydroplaning to that extreme.
