Ken Block, eat your heart out. This video is a feature of Mike Ryan driving his nearly 10,000 pound Freightliner Cascadia is a (sort of) spoof of Block’s famous Gymkhana series and was shot at the same Marine Air Base in El Toro while Block filmed his first installment. Ryan has a dozen Pikes Peak Hill Climbs in his Freightliner, and after watching him handle this sucker we’ll just have to same that he’s a bigger man than we are. Apparently this is what he does to keep his skills sharp while simultaneously creating marketing materials. We dig it!
The truck is obviously not stock. It has a 1,950-horsepower Detroit Diesel with more than 3,400 pound-feet of torque, and each of the Michelin’s is custom made. We’ve got to imagine that the guy that makes his tires has a full time job, because the rears alone barely last the length of the video. We have utterly no idea on Earth how it ever occurred to Ryan to get into semi drifting, but after watching the video we could care less. Don’t be surprised if you stand up at the end and find a flag to salute. Who’s ready for Smokey and the Bandit 4?
