If you’re one of those who wasn’t lucky enough to have your parents buy you a Power Wheels car when you were younger, or you’re old enough that they just didn’t exist, then this post is for you. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that they are available here in the US of A, but Pocket Classics of England offers these killer, handmade miniature classic cars based on a variety of famous full-scale designs.
You’ve got your choice of a Cobra, Ferrari California, Aston DB5, Jaguar XK120, and even a Citroën DS. According to the company, these are suitable for age 10 through adult children, and offer a variety of features you wouldn’t expect from a “toy”.
Each car model features a 110cc four-stroke, air-cooled gasoline engine with a top speed of 46 MPH to go with the three-speed semi-automatic gearbox that even includes a reverse gear. Four-wheel coil-over independent suspension is standard as is a set of twin front and single rear hydraulic Brembo disc brakes. The cars all have electric start, lights, horn and indicators, making for one of the most realistic driving experiences short of a full-size vehicle.
A front-engine, rear-drive layout is also standard on all of the cars, and the company also offers plenty of options including a custom cover, trailer for transportation, performance upgrades, and even replacement bodyshells for those of you who get a bit too, shall we say, aggressive in your scale-size driving endeavors. Heck, they even optimize weight distribution by sticking the spare tire and battery in the trunk! They are built to order over a period of three months with whatever exterior color and interior material you’d like.
Prices range from £7,995 to £12,495 plus local taxes, and if you can figure out a way to get one here in the States, we’d be very interested in hearing about it.
