If you’re an automotive movie aficionado, or even just a hot rod enthusiast, you’ve undoubtedly heard the name Christine associated with a possessed Plymouth Fury with a mind of its own. That is thanks to famous author Stephen King, and with this year marking the 30th anniversary of both the book and the subsequent movie, both released in 1983, Chryslers at Carlisle is holding a special Christine celebration. So grab your vintage Furys and hold on for the ride, because according to Hemmings Daily, this celebration is set to be one of a kind.

Chosen by King to play the role of Christine because of its relatively “mundane” nature and disassociation from any existing automotive legends, the 1958 Plymouth Fury was available only as a beige and gold two-door hardtop model. Oddly enough, however, Christine is cast as a red and white four-door in King’s book and then a two-door version with the same color scheme in the John Carpenter-directed film that followed. Both King and Carpenter maintain that Christine was a “custom order” car and this has inspired countless clones to be commissioned.
At the 2013 Chryslers at Carlise event, you are sure to see some of these clones, as well as a number of more factory-correct models as the event celebrates the 30th anniversary of the release of both the book and film. Among those cars that will be on display for the special event will be one of the remaining four existing movie cars, a Belvedere converted to a Fury for the film owned by Bill Gibson of Pensacola, Florida. Five cast members from the movie will also be at the event.
Chryslers at Carlisle is set to take place July 12th through the 14th. In addition to the Christine 30th anniversary celebration, there will also be a Max Wedge reunion, Ramchargers gathering, and Daisy Dukes contest for guests to enjoy. In the meantime, enjoy the trailer for Christine below.
